You have your perfect, Facebook page, you’ve got some fans, and all your information is uploaded. You may think that the hard part is now over, but in reality this is only the beginning and unfortunately a lot more effort is left to come. Don’t let this put you off though, as the benefits of utilizing social networks, far out weigh the effort it takes.

I have written this post to help you with at least one element of your Facebook marketing and make it a little easier. The point to discuss is, when is the best time and frequency to post on Facebook?

To begin with, one of the most important things to consider when beginning your Facebook page, is what you are going to post about. Having a clear idea about what you are going to post about will make finding specific topics and interesting content easier.

Next, you need to decide how frequently you are going to post on your wall. It’s essential to be able to achieve a blissful balance between too few posts and so many that you are technically spamming. If you post too many times in a day, or have more than one post in one person’s news feed at any given time, then in general people will get annoyed and feel like they are being spammed. If you continue to release status’ too often it can result in your fans eventually unsubscribing to your page.

On the other hand, if you post too infrequently on your wall, then you run the risk of missing out on opportunities to contact your audiences and encourage engagement. The more fans that you have on your page, the more often you should post, as they are more likely to move down the page faster. Keep this in mind while you are posting, but don’t take the mick!

Remember that each post will perform differently, and the time that you post on the wall can dramatically affect how long it remains in the news feed of your fans. Each post or status will drop from a fan’s news feed at different times, so this will make it more difficult to know when to re-post.

From research conducted by various independent organisations, findings have shown that Thursday and Friday have 18% more engagement than other days. Contrary to popular belief, the beginning of the week is not necessarily the best time to begin your expert Facebook campaign. Outside business hours, and at the end of the week are also good times for social networking. Opposing the traditional marketing methods that we have until this point readily accepted, Facebook finds Monday and Tuesday to be the days with least engagement.

Given that the majority of the country are work tend to work the 9-5 grind, the times that have the most engagement are at 9am in the morning and 8pm in the evening. When people arrive at work and when they get home. In general morning posts have an average of 39.7% more engagement, than others throughout the day.

To get a real idea of when your audience will be at their computers, think about their day-to-day regular lifetime experiences. With these in mind, you can consider where they are when you send out your post, and whether it is at the best time to target as many people as possible.

With Thursday and Friday being the best days for engagement, Saturday is the day is when the most posts are shared. The peak of the day is 12pm, and everyone does the most sharing at this time. Although it can be a good idea to post during this time, as there will be a higher chance that you will be lost in the flow of the busiest time of the day.

There are a few people who use social Facebook during the night, and considering the night as a time to share your post is not necessarily a bad idea. As there is a lack of action on Facebook at that time in the night, your post is more likely to commented on or noticed, due to lack of competition. This is will then spread the exposure to your fans and when they then share, then their contacts too! Late night posts, can actually pay off!

Just because Saturday is meant to be the most responsive day for posts, it doesn’t mean that you should ignore the other days, at all. You need to be consistent with your posts, and do a substantial amount to show the dedication to your page and your social network strategy.

Remember that throughout your Facebook campaign, each post will behave differently for each person so with this in mind, post as much as you can without becoming a pain.

Once you have been posting on your Facebook for a substantial amount of time, you will begin to notice which status’s receive more hits and engagement than others. You can see the amount of hits and exposure at the bottom of each post and it will look like this:

Once you have begun to see these techniques, you should begin to see positive results, increased interaction and more comments. To become an influential character in your field takes a lot of persistence and work, but when you have gained this position, you will be the first place your audience comes to for tips and information.
