Below is a great video from Matt Cutts at Google, which I wanted to share with you all.
The video is Matt’s response to a question regarding the use of the keywords meta tag on websites. It’s been pretty much known now for many years that google does not use the keywords meta tag, but in the video he does give some more information about the tag and also other tags.
The video is just short of 2 minutes so it’s not too long.
Please remember though, that just because google does not use the keyword meta tag, other search engines do (to a small degree). So you may think it’s not worth while using. Personally, if you have done your research and developed your site correctly, the extra 20 seconds it will take to add the tag with your keywords (which you should know already) is worth it.
